Welcome to the Department of Modern Languages and Literature at CSUB! Our program is comprehensive, where you will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the fascinating world of the Spanish-speaking countries and people. In our program, you will explore and learn about linguistics, literature, culture, history, and society in Spain and Spanish America. We offer courses geared towards acquiring or further developing your Spanish or French language skills, as well as courses in the upper-division level where you will be analyzing, thinking critically, expressing your views, and deepening your knowledge about the Spanish-speaking world or francophone world, all in the target language. Our program offers the following academic degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
- Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with Credential Emphasis
- Master of Arts in Spanish
- Minor in Spanish
- Special major in French
- Minor in French
- Minor in Japanese
