The best preparation for a legal career
“Pre-Law” is not a discipline. It is a career intention, and as such, it demands careful academic planning. Part of that planning is to choose college courses that provide a basis for the study of law in a U.S. law school.
At California State University, Bakersfield, three disciplines that are critically important in law today offer a pre-law concentration in their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree programs:
- Economics: The primary subject of law in a free-market economy
- Philosophy: A discipline that specializes in abstract reasoning
- Political Science: A social science focused on public authority
Students who plan to attend law school are also encouraged to pursue a Pre-Law minor in one of these disciplines.
Please click on the links at left for more information about the Pre-Law programs at CSUB, as well as perspectives on the importance of law in the society and the careers that attorneys and others trained in the law pursue.Pre-Law Program
