Country Prospectus Instructions

Content:

You will be assigned an Asian Pacific country for which you are to develop a country prospectus.  A country prospectus is promotional and informational material commonly developed by government agencies in order to disseminate information to investors, traders, foreign governments, tourists, the general public, etc., about their respective countries.  The prospectus highlights the country’s many assets, attractions, economy, export products, current events, politics, key industries, economic trends, etc.  The main goal of the country prospectus is to generate interest in the country’s products, industries, tourist attractions, financial markets, human capital, physical assets such as infrastructure and port facilities, natural resources, etc.

A country prospectus often provides an economic, social and political profile of the country.  It will include discussions of current issues and events, as well as discussions of current problems and their evolving solutions.   Seventy percent of your grade will be based on the quality of the content of your prospectus.

Format:

The country prospectus can be in the form of a brochure, pamphlet, booklet, newsletter or even web page.  It is to be typewritten and should be a challenge to your creativity and desktop publishing abilities.  Thirty percent of your grade will be devoted to an evaluation of your creativity and the appearance of your output.  The prospectus must be the equivalent of seven  to ten 8”x10” double-spaced pages in length.   You may include charts, photos, tables, maps, etc., but these are to appear in the scale and proportion of the text.  Non-text material should complement your text and should not be used merely as space fillers.

General Instructions:

Although there may be some duplication in country assignments, each of you is expected to develop a unique prospectus.  Very similar prospectuses may cause problems for those involved.

You are to cite all your references and give credit to your sources of information.
