FirstClass Migration
With the move from FirstClass to Office 365, many questions arose. We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about the migration from FirstClass to Office 365. If you have additional questions, please email the Helpdesk at helpdesk@csub.eduFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my personal contacts in FirstClass transfer to Office 365 automatically?
If you perform the FirstClass Migration preparations, your email, files, and attachments should transfer to Office 365 automatically. After the migration, you will need to export your personal contacts from FirstClass and move them manually to Office 365. For instructions, please see Moving FC Contacts to Office 365 (pdf).
Will my conference folders in FirstClass transfer to Office 365 automatically?
If you perform the FirstClass Migration preparations, your email, files, and attachments should transfer to Office 365 automatically. After the migration, you will need to export your conference folders from FirstClass and move them manually to Office 365.
Can I export my personal mailing lists?
You cannot export your personal mailing lists. You will need to recreate them in Office 365.
Will my folder structure in FirstClass transfer to Office 365?
Based on recent testing, your folder structure may not transfer to Office 365 reliably. We recommend that you move the mail items in your folders to your Mailbox. For instructions on this procedure, please refer to Moving FirstClass Mail to Mailbox (pdf)
What happens to my email delivered during the migration period?
All email destined for FirstClass will be held, during the migration period, December 4 - 6, 2015 . Once Office 365 is available, December 6, 2015, all email will be directed to Office 365.
Will there be access to email during the migration weekend, if we need it?
You will not have access to your email during the transition. You may want to consider using an alternative email address during this period, if email contact is essential to your operations
Will the files in my File Storage folder be transferred to Office 365?
You will need to transfer your File Storage folder to Office 365 manually. To transfer your FirstClass File Storage, you will need to download if from FirstClass and the upload it into OneDrive on Office 365. For assistance with this task, please refer to the Transferring FC File Storage to OneDrive (pdf) document.
What will happen if we have a student and staff email account?
Once we move to Office 365,
- Your student (netid@runner.csub.edu) and staff email accounts (netid@csub.edu) will be merged together.
- You will continue to receive email from your student (netid@runner.csub.edu) after the accounts are merged.
- Your FirstClass Mailbox will be transferred to your combined email account (netid@csub.edu).
This change will take place during the Transition Period, December 4, 2015 -December 6, 2015.
