If you are interested in being involved in campus life and want to be involved in your student government, networking, gain leadership experience and become a voice for students campus wide, then become an ASI student leader!
Thank you for expressing interest in running for a position on the ASI Board of Directors. ASI Elections to join the Board for the 2025-2026 academic year will be held April 1-11 , 2025.
Please fill out this form to declare your intent to run:
A) Executive Officers:
Please note: To run for an executive office position, they must attend 2 Board of
Directors meetings and 2 ASI committee meetings, or submitted no less than two professional
letters of recommendation in addition to attending the Executive Officer Election
seminar.
President: As the Chief Executive Officer of ASI, the President oversees the ASI Board of Directors
and is responsible for the operation, accountability and representation of the organization.
The President shall provide the Board with strategic direction on policies, services
and student-related issues that affect California State University, Bakersfield students.
Executive Vice President: The Executive Vice President is responsible for the coordination and internal management of ASI. In the absence of the President, the Executive Vice President shall be vested with the powers of and perform the duties of the President. The Executive Vice President presides over the Public Affairs committee, shall make recommendations to the President for all appointments to campus committees and be responsible for handling issues that pertain to a student’s education. The Executive Vice President shall also foster new partnerships and relationships with community organizations and Bakersfield College’s Student Government Association.
Vice President of Campus Life: The Vice President of Campus Life presides over the Campus Life Committee and is responsible for the coordination of social, cultural, and educational events that meet the interests and needs of all members of the student body.
Vice President of Finance: The Vice President of Finance presides over the Finance Committee and is responsible for the coordination of the Finance Committee. The Vice President of Finance approves all ASI expenditures from the ASI Budget and is responsible for the organization’s fiscal operations.
Vice President of Legislative Affairs: The Vice President of Legislative Affairs is responsible for coordinating ASI’s legislative agenda, recruiting a group of students to serve on the Lobby Corps, and attend the monthly CSSA (California State Student Association) meetings with the ASI President. The Vice President of Legislative Affairs will plan ASI’s legislative visits both in Bakersfield and Sacramento.
Vice President of University Affairs: The Vice President of University Affairs presides over the University Affairs Committee and Academic Affairs Assembly and is responsible for campus wide campaigns focusing on elections, diversity, and sustainability. The Vice President of University Affairs is responsible for handling issues that pertain to CSUB students.
B) Position Specific Directors:
Director of Accessibility and Essential Needs: The Director of Accessibility and Essential Needs shall coordinate services for students at the University. The Director will work with different departments to provide information on resources and host a campus-resources fair each semester. The Director shall also maintain relations with the Food Pantry, Student Health Services, the Counseling Center, and other student-focused groups to see how ASI can assist with promoting their services.
Director of ASI Outreach: The Director of ASI Outreach helps to facilitate the coordination of the Rowdy Bunch Program which seeks to get more students involved with the organization. The Director will also work to get ASI more involved with campus departments and activities, and shall also put on a campaign each semester to make students aware of the organization, the mission, and purpose.
Director of Athletics Engagement: The Director of Athletics Engagement shall serve as a liaison between Athletics and ASI to enhance student life on campus. The Director shall be responsible for seeking ways to engage student-athletes with the university community, promote a greater sense of pride for CSUB, work alongside the athletics department on campus to address student athlete concerns, and develop and promote athletic initiatives. This Director will sit on SAAC and pass information between both groups. In addition, this Director will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours at the Kegley Center.
Director of Clubs/Organizations Outreach: The Director of Clubs/Organizations Outreach is in charge of maintaining connections with all CSUB clubs/organizations and fostering relationship and assistance to those clubs/organizations. The Director will also help the Vice President of Finance with the Club and Orgs. Social each semester, assist the ASI President with the Student Leadership Council, and spend 1 out of their 4 office hours helping clubs with the funding application process.
Director of Diversity and Inclusion: The Director of Diversity and Inclusion shall strive to be responsive to the need of civility and cultural awareness on campus by organizing activities and events that embrace differences and celebrate unity. The Director shall sit on all relevant committees and stimulate an environment that is more conducive for students from different backgrounds (socioeconomic, racial, cultural, spiritual, residential & non-residential) to collaborate with one another not only socially but academically as well. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will also collaborate with the Multicultural Alliance and Gender Equity Resource Center (MAGEC) on campus wide programs, as well as the International Students Office. In addition, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours over in MAGEC or the International Students and Programs Office.
Director of Student-Housing Relations: The Director of Student-Housing Relations shall serve as a relations liaison between Student Housing and ASI to enhance student life on campus. The Director shall be responsible for informing ASI of programs, issues, and concerns related to Housing students at the university, be required to attend Residence Hall Association Meetings in order to strengthen communication and build positive relationships, and plan at least one event with Student Housing.
Director of Students with Disabilities: The Director of Students with Disabilities shall coordinate activities and events that help educate students on disabilities and accessibility. The Director shall collaborate with various departments throughout the academic school year, sit on the Students with Disabilities Advisory Committee and other campus committees that address accessibility issues, in addition to being an active member of any clubs being supporting students with disabilities.
Director of Sustainability: The Director of Sustainability is in charge of promoting and implementing sustainable projects on campus with approval from the ASI Board of Directors. The Director will plan programs in support of Campus Sustainability Month and Recyclemania, along with the University’s Sustainability Coordinator. In addition, the Director of Sustainability will be ASI’s representative on the Campus Beautification committee.
Director of Transfer Students: The Director of Transfer Students represents the interests and needs of students who have transferred into CSUB. The Director will sit on committees related to transfer students and will meet with the Director of the Transfer Center at least twice a semester. They will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in the Transfer Center.
Director of Veterans Affairs: The Director of Veterans Affairs shall serve as a relations liaison between the Veteran community and ASI to enhance student life on campus. They shall be responsible for informing ASI of programs, issues, and concerns related to veteran students at the University. This Director shall also be responsible for identifying ways to better welcome veteran students and to include them in campus involvement.
C) Academic College Directors:
Director for the College of Arts & Humanities: The Director of Arts & Humanities represents the interests and needs of all students whose major falls in arts and/or humanities. The Director will sit on committees related to their college including, but not limited to, search committees. The Director shall also meet with the Dean at least twice a semester and will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in their college.
Director for the College of Business & Public Administration: The Director of Business & Public Administration represents the interests and needs of all students whose major falls in business and/or public administration. The Director will sit on committees related to their college including, but not limited to, search committees. The Director shall also meet with the Dean at least twice a semester and will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in their college.
Director for the College of Social Sciences & Education: The Director of Social Sciences and Education represents the interests and needs of all students whose major falls in social sciences and/or education. The Director will sit on committees related to their college including, but not limited to, search committees. The Director shall also meet with the Dean at least twice a semester and will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in their college.
Director for the College of Natural Science, Mathematics & Engineering: The Director of Natural Science, Mathematics & Engineering represents the interests and needs of all students whose major falls in natural science, mathematics, and/or engineering. The Director will sit on committees related to their college including, but not limited to, search committees. The Director shall also meet with the Dean at least twice a semester and will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in their college.
Director of Graduate Students: The Director of Graduate Students represents the interests and needs of all graduate students. The Director will sit on committees who need a graduate student representative including, but not limited to, search committees. The Director will meet with the Dean at least twice a semester and will hold 2 out of their 4 office hours in the Graduate Student Center.
Students are eligible to run for office if they meet the following CSU system-wide requirements;
Grades
All student representatives must be matriculated at the University, maintaining an on-campus 2.5 grade point average (GPA) each term, and not be on probation of any kind.
Unit Load
Undergraduate students must earn 12 semester of credit per term while running for office or holding office. Graduate and credential students must earn 6 semester of credit per term while running for office or holding office. Undergraduate students are allowed to earn a maximum of 150 semester or 125% of the units required for a specific baccalaureate degree, whichever is greater. Graduate and credential students are allowed to earn a maximum of 50 semester or 167% of the units required for the graduate or current object, whichever is greater.
Residency
Undergraduate candidates must have been enrolled on the campus and have completed 1 semester prior to the election, earning a total of 12 semester units during that year. Graduate and credential candidates must earn 6 semester units per term of continuous attendance as a new graduate or credential student to be eligible. If they earned a bachelor's degree or credential in the past 3 years from the same campus, they must have earned a total of 12 semester units during their last year as an undergraduate.

The first step in running for ASI office is reading the ASI Elections Packet and the ASI Elections Code. These explain the entire process and descriptions of each position. The next step
is filing for elections, all required forms are found on this webpage. Filing period begins February 12th and the deadline is March 25, 2025 at 12pm.
Voter Information
Each student will be notified and receive an email to their CSUB email with a link to a SurveyMonkey poll to vote from Mike Kwon (mkwon@csub.edu). Elections will be held completely online.
Elections begin Wednesday, April 9th at 8am to Thursday, April 10th to 11:59 PM.
