Bounty of Kern County



Bounty of Kern County is an annual event hosted by the Kern County Farm with the purpose of connecting members of the community and industry leaders. Each year, keynote speakers are invited to discuss the current achievements and statistics of Kern County’s agriculture industry. The Grimm Family Center for Agricultural Business is proud to support this event and continue our partnership with the Kern County Farm Bureau.
Carrot Festival



The Grimm Family Center for Agricultural Business hosted the first Carrot Festival at California State University, Bakersfield in Fall 2024. The festival provided students with the opportunity to present research on carrots grown within Kern County, and hosted carrot themed activities for community members of all ages. Our featured dessert, carrot cake ice cream, was a fan favorite of all who attended.
Growing Opportunities Career Fair



The Growing Opportunities Career Fair provides AGBS students at California State University, Bakersfield with the opportunity to meet with industry professionals about upcoming internship and job opportunities. This is an annual event open to all CSUB students interested in in joining or learning more about the agriculture industry. For more information, please read the full press release here.
Sip and Scholarship



Sip and Scholarship is an annual wine-tasting, fundraising event at California State University, Bakersfield. All donations raised at this event are collected and directly awarded to students during a fall ceremony. The first annual Sip `N Scholarship event took place in conjunction with our March 2024 Speaker Series that featured a panel of wine industry experts describing their experiences and knowledge within the regional industry.
Tailgate Talk



The Grimm Family Center for Agricultural Business hosted a Tailgate Talk on December 4, 2024, in the Student Union Multipurpose Room. Facilitated by the Kern County Farm Bureau, Tailgate Talks were created to provide a space for vital workplace insights and engaging discussions as they relate to the agricultural industry. On December 4th, industry professionals and CSUB students were given the opportunity to learn about topics relating to FSA programs and loans, farmworker grants, and 2025 compliance.
Young Farmers and Ranchers



The GFCAB is a proud supporter of the Young Farmers and Ranchers, which is a “program that provides young people, between the ages of 18 and 35, leadership opportunities in advocating for agriculture." YF&R is also involved in fundraising events to help support agricultural outreach projects that educate the public on the benefits and importance of agriculture.
