`Runner Launch courses are all real university courses required as part of your General Education requirements. Runner Launch courses are either A2 (Written Communication), B4 (Quantitative Reason), or FYS (First Year Seminar).
In other words, `Runner Launch gives you a chance to take one of your Math, English, and/or Seminar courses before you start in Fall.
Our interactive Program Pathways Mapper website can show you which courses you need based on your major. Check our list of available `Runner Launch courses against this map to see how many classes you can do ahead of schedule.
Still not sure about which paths you would need to take? Contact us at runnerlaunch@csub.edu or 661-654-6611.

- It's hard to learn when you haven't eaten, so we'll take care of the food.
- Exclusive experiences and activities just for `Runner Launchers!
- It can't be class time all the time, so hang out with your fellow `Runners and decompress a little.
- FREE academic support and tutoring for the entire summer!
- Taking university classes for the first time can be challenging, but we're here to help! Tutors for all `Runner Launch courses will be available throughout the summer and are looking forward to helping you. (Don't worry; they'll be here to help out in the Fall too.)
We're glad you asked!
`Runner Launch courses are eligible for a fee waiver for students with an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $6,000 or less. Your EFC is determined by your FAFSA.
In other words, your tuition costs are waived if you qualify. This means you can not only take required CSUB courses with all of these additional benefits, but you can also potentially do it at no cost to you.
We're packing `Runner Launch full of things to do!
In the summer, CSUB is open Monday through Thursday. We've set up our days like this:
- 8:00 AM to 8:50 AM - Breakfast
- We've taken care of the food for you. Come enjoy breakfast in our `Runner Cafe.
- 9:00 AM to 10:50 AM
- This is the first time slot for classes for the day. This could be Math or English. Some classes fill the whole time block, and others end a bit earlier. If you have free time, explore campus, meet with new or old friends, or get some help from a tutor!
- 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM
- This time block is reserved for CSUB 1029: First Year Seminar. This course is designed to teach you about being a university student, CSUB, and all of the great things the campus has to offer!
- 12:00 to 12:50 PM
- Lunch time! You've been working hard, so we'll take care of the food for you. Use this time to refuel, check in with classmates, or work on some homework. We'll have tutors and mentors available to help out, too!
- 1:00 PM to 2:50 PM
- This stretch is our second class block. Quantitative Reasoning (Math) and Written Communications (English) will be offered during this time frame.
- 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
- Welcome to your free period! During this time block, we will have activities and open tutoring available. The campus is also open during this time, so you are welcome to explore or hang out with us.
We are excited to have you on board!
We are still prepping the launch site, but we will be ready soon! In the mean time, fill out this form to be among the first to receive `Runner Launch details.
