We are thrilled you chose CSUB as your University!
Congratulations! During these next few months, there are a few steps you must take before meeting with an academic advisor and enrolling at CSUB. This page is designed to aid you in your transition to CSUB by providing you with a step-by-step process on what you need to do to ensure you are prepared when meeting with us. We look forward to meeting with you and guiding you through the process of obtaining your Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Steps to Complete your Admission:
Apply to CSUB by the application deadline for the semester you are interested in attending.
If you missed the deadline, you will need to reach out to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to discuss your options.
You must accept your admissions and submit your intent to enroll in your myCSUB account
by the deadline.
Make sure to submit all requested documents! This may include the following:
- High School Transcripts (First Time, First Year Students only)
- Transcripts from Dual Enrollment Coursework (First tIme, First Year Students only)
- Community College Transcripts
- University Transcripts
- Official Test Scores for any exams you have passed (AP, CLEP, etc)
Make sure to submit any and all official transcripts. If you attended more than one
community college/university - you will need to request official transcripts from
each institution.
Once all transcripts/test scores are recieved, an Admissions Specialist will review
and validate your coursework/exam credit.
- Please note, an Admissions Specialist will not review or validate any documents until
all transcripts/test scores have been recieved.
Once the Admissions Specialist has completed their review, they will notify a Transfer
Credit Specialist to get all transcripts/test scores evaluated.
A transfer credit specialist will then go in and evaluate any transfer credit, dual
enrollment credit, or test scores. Once this is done, you will be able to see all
your credits (including test scores) on your myCSUB under the "Transfer Credit Report"
tab.
One the admissions specialist and transfer credit specialist have completed their
evaluations, you will be added to the "Ready to Advise" list.
This means, the Liberal Studies Advisors will be able to see that you are fully matriculated
and evaluated and can now schedule an appointment. You will then be added to an advising
campaign within Runner Connect.
Once added, you should recieve an email to your CSUB Outlook email account letting
you know you are ready to schedule an advising appointment. Please make your appointment
during a day and time that works for you!
Please note, advising appointments are on a first-come, first serve basis and may
be taken up quickly! We highly recommend ensuring all your transcripts/test scores
are submitted to ensure a timely evaluation. We are not able to meet with a student
until you are added to the Ready to Advise List.
For questions about the status of your applicaiton or evaluation, please reach out
to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
To ensure that an Academic Advisor is able to help you enroll into courses, please
make sure to remove any holds on your myCSUB account. Please note, academic advisors
cannot lift any holds besides the "Advising Hold- No Enrl." The "Advising Hold- No
Enrl" hold, will be lifted during your advising appointment.
If you have any other holds, we will not be able to finalize your enrollment.
Make sure to write down any questions or concerns you have so a Liberal Studies advisor
can best assist you!
Attend your advising appointment on the time and day you selected. Make sure you have
access to a computer or tablet to utilize during the appointment. Please note, advising
appointments will not be conducted if you are driving so be sure to schedule your
appointment at a time when you can dedicate your full attention.
If you miss your appointment, there is no guarantee that we will be able to see you
and help you enroll in classes before the semester begins. As previously mentioned,
appointments are taken up quickly.

At CSUB, academic advising is required for all Incoming Transfers and Incoming First Year, First Time Students.
Once you have been admitted and matriculated, you will receive an email from the Liberal Studies Team that will allow you to schedule an advising appointment (check dates below). During this appointment, an advisor will review all coursework you have completed, discuss your pathway options within the Liberal Studies major, and help you enroll in your first semester classes.
To prepare for this appointment, make sure to gather any dual enrollment, college coursework, or AP exam scores you have. Having this available during your appointment will allow your advisor to accurately advise you and place you in courses that you need and align with major requirements.
Academic Advising for New Transfer Students & First Time, First Year Students began June 3rd.
