If you disagree with a decision made by SSD Staff, or if you feel you have been discriminated against based solely on the presence of a disability, here are the procedures to follow.
Informal Appeal
- Meet with the Director of SSD, Janice Clausen, to discuss your issue and develop a resolution, if possible.
- If you still believe the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may request a meeting with the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Thomas Wallace. The office is located in SA 101, (661) 654-2161.
Formal Appeal
Marcus Brown, JD (Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance)
The formal grievance or appeal process is entitled âCalifornia State University, Bakersfield Section 504 Grievance Procedureâ. Marcus Brown, J.D. is the designated Section 504/ADA Coordinator. You may obtain a copy of the Section 504 Grievance Procedure from his office in the President's Office, BDC E100, (661) 654-2713. This document contains detailed information as to how to proceed with your grievance. Upon request, the SSD office will provide a copy in an alternate format.
