Academic Advising & Resource Center
The Academic Advising & Resource Center (AARC) is focused on ensuring the success
of CSUB’s students. Their goal is to work collaboratively with each student and each
on-campus department so that all student needs are met and addressed, and all issues
are rectified.
Academic Programs
California State University, Bakersfield is proud to offer high-quality undergraduate
and graduate programs that advance the intellectual and personal development of its
students. The university is committed to scholarship and life-long learning, and currently
offers more than 50 different Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs.
The Office of Academic Programs handles many of the academic matters that are university-wide
in scope including: coordination of CSUB’s General Education Program, coordination
of the First-year Experience and CSUB courses, oversight of the four-year degree pledge,
oversight of Early Enrollment for high school students, and more.
Dean of Students
The Dean of Students supports the university’s mission by developing the personal
and intellectual potential of all students. We foster this through developmental learning,
placing value for integrity and self-reflection, and encouraging responsible behavior.
By upholding the Student Conduct Code, we create a healthy living and learning environment
that empowers students to be ethical leaders.
Library
Through its programs and services, the mission of the Walter W. Stiern Library is
to provide access to information that furthers student learning and research and faculty
instruction and research.
Ombudsperson
The Ombudsperson is available to meet with any student who has a concern or complaint
about the University. The Ombudsperson is an objective mediator who helps resolve
conflicts which arise from disagreement and acts as liaison between students and the
University.
Services for Students with Disabilities
The Mission of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) is to provide support
services that enable every student, regardless of disability, to have access to a
University education at CSU Bakersfield.
Tutoring Services
Tutoring is available to CSUB students in many subject areas. You may need just a
little extra help with a subject or have a class concept explained a little differently
to you. Tutoring is available, and it's free.
Writing Resource Center
The CSUB Writing Resource’s mission is to provide advocacy and leadership for writing
across campusby delivering support in a welcoming, helpful, and collaborative learning
environment with trained, respectful staff. They aim to provide individual and group
peer writing support across the disciplines at all stages of writing in order to cultivate
the skills, strategies, and behaviors of confident, independent, and life-long learners
leading to increased student success.
