Academic Petitions
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR STUDENTS: Effective immediately, student course withdrawals earned during the spring 2020 semester or quarter shall not count against the maxima described in EO 1037 (A.6.a). Students may subsequently repeat a course with a CR grade earned in spring 2020 for a letter grade (B.1). Units earned for a repeated course in spring 2020 shall be excluded from the 16-semester unit maximum for grade forgiveness (B.2.a). Campuses may allow students to repeat a course taken in spring 2020 even if the student has already attempted the course twice (B.2.b.)
The Academic Petitions Committee
The Academic Petitions Committee (APC) reviews petitions from undergraduate students regarding the following academic requests. (Click on the links below for more information about each type of Petition for Exception and the required forms for each.)
Note: The deadline for petitions for readmission for Spring 2025 is September 30th, 2024. Petitions received after this date will be considered for Fall 2025 admission. PETITION PRIORITY DEADLINES FOR REINSTATEMENT
- Fall 2025: July 1st, 2025.
Petitions Processing Instructions
All Petitions for Exception and Appeals for Academic Disqualification or Probation
will be processed through email.
Please see the General Guidelines for Submitting Petitons.
- Student initiates the petition/appeal request by emailing the completed form(s) with relevant documentation to their faculty or staff advisor.
- The faculty or staff advisor forwards the completed form(s) with relevant documentation via email to Neida Herrera (nherrera10@csub.edu) and indicates in the body of the email whether they support or do not support the student's request.
- The Academic Petitions Committee will reach a decision within 2 weeks. The Associate Dean will give the final approval/denial, and responses will be sent by email to the student, Registrar, and anyone else if required.
