Ethnic Studies (ES) is one among the three specializations in the interdisciplinary program at CSUB. Ethnic Studies instruction is mainly, but not exclusively, centered on the study of the interplay between ethnic/race relations and power dynamics both here in the United States and other parts of the world. Wide-ranging humanities and social science perspectives, approaches, and concepts are utilized in the classes taught by Ethnic Studies instructors, including diversity, representation, racialization and race and ethnic inequality. Ethnic Studies allows students to expand their social and intellectual horizons with respect to race and ethnic relations, in the spirit of fostering civic engagement.
