Returning Student
CSUB undergraduate students interested in returning to the university to complete graduation requirements to earn a bachelor's degree, but did not enroll in courses at the university (main or AV campus) for two or more consecutive terms, must reapply for admission to the university.
You are considered a returning student if you:
- Applied and were admitted to CSUB, and
- Enrolled and earned a letter grade in courses enrolled in during a regular term (spring or fall semester), and
- Have not yet earned a degree from CSUB, and
- Have not enrolled/attended courses at CSUB for more than two semesters
You are NOT a returning student if you:
- Were admitted and did NOT enroll in classes, the semester in which your were admitted
- Dropped all of your classes during the posted add/drop period of your first semester of being admitted, or
- Participated in Dual or Concurrent Enrollment while enrolled in high school or at your community college
- Have only attended CSUB through Open University, or
- Already completed bachelor's degree at CSUB
If you are a former student interested in returning to CSUB to complete graduation requirements, you must reapply for admission and complete all admissions steps. Each student has a different re-application process, depending on how long ago they attended and their last academic standing. If a student last attended 3 years ago or less, they will re-apply for admission through the Re-enrollment Form. If a student last attended over 3 years ago, they will need to re-apply through Cal State Apply. Please refer to Application Steps below.
Please note: Degree requirements may have changed during your absence. Please review the CSUB catalog and/or discuss with your academic advisor.
Academic Standing
Students should be aware of their academic standing for the last semester attended as a CSUB student.
Students who have been academically disqualified must submit a Petition for Reinstatement form to the Academics Petitions Committee in addition to the application for readmission. The Petition for Reinstatement form, as well as instructions and important deadlines, are available on the Academic Petitions Committee webpage, or call (661) 654-2355 or email nherrera10@csub.edu.
The Petition for Reinstatement form and supporting documents must be submitted to the Academic Programs Office by email to nherrera10@csub.edu.
Please note: Students who have been academically disqualified will NOT be considered for readmission until they have been reinstated to the university and all current official transcripts and/or test scores are received.
