Dear Graduates,
The paths that have brought generations of Roadrunners to California State University, Bakersfield are as varied and unique as each of our students. But now those paths have converged for you, our graduates, as you leave this university en route to a glorious destination: A future made possible by your hard work and belief in yourselves.
On behalf of your CSUB family and the communities that we are honored to serve, I want to congratulate the Class of 2024 on this momentous achievement.
There are few milestones in life that have such a defined end point, but your college graduation is the rare exception. You studied, you worked, you sacrificed, you excelled. And now you walk away with a degree that proves that you have mastered your field of study and are ready to begin your career or the next phase of your studies.
But I encourage you to think of that degree in a different light. When you look at the diploma proudly displayed on the wall for all to see, may you remember the empowerment that comes through education and dedicate yourselves to a new path of lifelong learning and service. It is my hope that your CSUB graduation is not the end of your journey of enlightenment but only the beginning.
And remember, graduates, that you are now an example of excellence and perseverance to your own families and to the generations who will follow you to CSUB. As you venture out into the world to use your talents and gifts, please remember the importance of providing others with the encouragement and support to rise along with you.
Congratulations, graduates! Here’s to your brilliance, your hard work and your crowning achievement.
You are the pride of CSUB!
Sincerely,
Lynnette Zelezny, Ph.D., M.B.A.
