Multicultural Alliance and Gender Equity Center (MAGEC)

Welcome

Our Purpose at MAGEC

The Multicultural Alliance and Gender Equity Resource Center (MAGEC) is a department within the division of Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management (SASEM) that aims to uplift, validate and support students of all cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

MAGEC is located in the same building as the Dreamers Resource Center.

Resources Available for Students for Free:

  • Connection space (computer lab)
  • Prayer and meditation room
  • Private lactation room
  • Rowdy's Care Clothing Closet
  • Snack space- light snacks and beverages
  • Student lounges and community libraries
  • Textbook rental program

Student Lounges and Libraries

At MAGEC, we offer dedicated lounges for student organizations that represent the interests of various student demographics and communities on campus along with communal connection and study spaces, welcoming all members of our campus community.  These inclusive spaces are designed for students to gather, collaborate, relax, study, and build peer networks.

The three lounges are located inside the MAGEC Center in rooms 112, 114, and 115. For room reservations, study use, snack access, or just to hang out, please come by the front desk or email magec@csub.edu. We are here to help you feel welcome, and thrive academically and personally.

The student lounges in MAGEC include a small library, a collection of books and materials that reflect the voices, histories, and experiences connected to that space. These lounge libraries are designed to encourage curiosity, learning, and connection.

Jai's Library: A safer, softer place

Named in honor of a student leader, Jai Bornstein, whose vision centered inclusion and belonging, Jai's Library continues that legacy, celebrating stories that empower authenticity, compassion, and community.
Jai's Library is a community resource with a growing collection of books and other materials by authors that celebrate diverse voices, lived experiences, histories, and ways of knowing. All are welcome to browse, read, borrow, or donate.
Want to donate books or materials, please email magec@csub.edu to help our collection grow.
