The mission of the SANKOFA Scholars Initiative is to empower and develop dynamic women of color at CSUB through intentional guidance, the development of leadership skills, and the celebration of unique differences.
GOALS:
- Build connections to faculty and staff to enhance the overall experiences of women of color at CSUB and empower women of color to be self-advocates in their journey toward success.
- Create a sense of belonging for every woman of color enrolled at CSUB.
- Build connections with faculty and staff to enhance the overall experiences of women of color at CSUB.
- Create safe spaces for dialogue with and among other women of color.
- To offer enrichment activities that increase retention and graduation rates for women of color at CSUB.
- Establish benchmarks and hold the campus accountable for addressing the needs of women of color
- Increase employment opportunities for women of color.

Students will explore the program's pillars through course curriculum, mentorship, participation in leadership activities, community service opportunities, and various workshops by community leaders.
