Transfer Student: I've Applied
What's Next?
Thanks for submitting your application to CSU Bakersfield. Over the next few months, special attention will be given to reviewing each application. Your CSUB ID# will be sent to the email you provided on your application within 3 weeks of submitting your admissions application. Please note this is a mass email, it may end up in your spam folder. E-mail is our official means of communication, so it is important to check your email regularly.
There are a few steps you can take to make sure you have a smooth admissions experience:
- Activate your myCSUB portal using the CSUB ID# provided via email.
- Check myCSUB portal regularly for updates to your admission status, and for any items noted on your "To Do" list. Send any official documents listed on your "To Do List" as initiated by the deadline.
- Submit official transcripts with fall grades posted by February 17th for Fall admissions and September 30th for Spring admissions.
Initial provisional admission decisions will be based on the course information you reported on your application. Provisional admission as a transfer student is based on:
- Completion of the Golden 4 coursework by the end of spring (for fall admission) or the end of summer (for spring admission), with a grade of "C-" or higher
- Overall GPA of a 2.00 for all transferable coursework for CA residents and a 2.40 for non-CA residents
- In good standing at the last institution attended
Admission Decisions
CSUB will release admission decisions for applicants in two waves to all students who applied by the application deadline.
Wave One:
CSUB will offer provisional admission to a select number of applicants late September, for our spring incoming class and in early December for our fall incoming class. If you are provisionally admitted, you will receive an email communication and may view your offer of admission on your myCSUB portal.
For students who do not receive an early admissions decision, this is not a denial decision. We would just like to review your application more in-depth, please be patient with us.
Wave Two:
CSUB will release all remaining admission decisions for students who applied by the spring application deadline by late November for spring applicants, and in early Februray for fall applicants.
If you did not receive an admission decision:
Our team will continue to evaluate applications that were received after the application deadline. These decisions will be released on a rolling basis until complete.

Admission Status Check
Check your myCSUB portal for the latest information on your admission status. Failure to adhere to requirements or meet the posted deadline dates may void the processing of your admissions application.
Fall admission notices will be available by mid-February and Spring notices by October/November in your myCSUB portal. Your student portal is where you can view admissions information, financial aid information, To Do List, any holds on your account and eventually register and pay for classes.
If you are denied admission, or if you miss an admission deadline, it is unlikely that our decision will be reversed on appeal unless you have serious and extenuating circumstances. Learn about our appeals process.
