Dean's Message

Welcome to the College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering! We proudly serve local communities by providing unique educational pathways to develop students into professionals in STEM and health care careers. In the 2023-2024 academic year, 370 NSME students successfully completed their degree and crossed the stage during commencement. Many of our graduates have started contributing to the local industry, hospitals, schools and organizations, and some are moving forward to pursue advanced degrees. We cannot wait to see the impact that our graduates will make in the years to come!
At NSME, we offer a truly distinguished student experience, where education, research, innovation and community engagement come together. Our faculty members are not only award-winning educators but also renowned scholars and accomplished professionals, driven by a passion to inspire the next generation. They consistently bring research, experiential learning opportunities, and external resources to our students, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. We are also expanding our partnerships with local industries, national labs and organizations, creating even more opportunities for internships, field practice, summer research and study-abroad programs. It is exciting to see NSME students became interns at both our local industry and national organizations including the Smithsonian Museum, Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Mayo Clinic and more.
As we embark on the 2024-2025 academic year, we celebrate exciting milestones:
- NSME is now a College—a significant achievement that opens new avenues for future growth.
- We have established a new Department of Public Health, poised to support and elevate our Public Health program.
- Our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program has received final approval, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming our first cohort of DNP students in Fall 2025.
- We are launching a 2+2 degree completion program in Computer Science at our Antelope Valley campus, starting in Fall 2025.
Deeply rooted in the region, NSME remains committed to strengthening our collaboration with the local community. Together, we will cultivate the talents that empower our region’s economy and enhance the well-being of those who live and work here. This year, we look forward to completing the NSME Strategic Planning process, shaping a shared vision for the future based on the input of all stakeholders.
NSME, the future starts here.
