NSME Dean's Office

Dean's Message

Jane Dong

Welcome to the College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering! We proudly serve local communities by providing unique educational pathways to develop students into professionals in STEM and health care careers. In the 2025-2026 academic year, 411 NSME students successfully completed their degree and crossed the stage during commencement. Many of our graduates have started contributing to the local industry, hospitals, schools and organizations, and some are moving forward to pursue advanced degrees. We cannot wait to see the impact that our graduates will make in the years to come!

At NSME, we offer a truly distinguished student experience, where education, research, innovation, and community engagement come together. Our faculty members are not only award-winning educators but also renowned scholars and accomplished professionals, driven by a passion to inspire the next generation. They consistently bring research, experiential learning opportunities, and external resources to our students, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic learning environment.

We are also expanding our partnerships with local industries, national labs, and organizations, creating even more opportunities for internships, field practice, summer research, and study abroad programs. It is exciting to see NSME students became interns at both our local industry and national organizations including the AC Electric, Disney, Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Kern Medical, Mayo Clinic, and more.

NSME is excited to enter 2025-2026 academic year, celebrating exciting growth and embracing new opportunities:

  1. Three students will graduate from our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in Fall 2026. We are proud of these rising healthcare leaders;
  2. CSUB-AV summer bridge program was launched to offer hands-on research opportunities to students from Antelope Valley College and CSUB-AV;
  3. CSUB MESA University Center is welcoming the first group of MESA students;
  4. The construction of Energy Innovation Building is going smoothly with an expected completion data in Fall of 2027

Deeply rooted in the region, NSME remains committed to strengthening our collaboration with the local community. Together, we will cultivate the talents that empower our region’s economy and enhance the well-being of those who live and work here.  With the completion of our NSME Strategic Plan, we are now focused on turning our shared vision into reality — in collaboration with students, faculty, industry and community partners.

NSME, the future starts here.
