Advising in Psychology
Freshman and Sophomores
Freshman and Sophomores: To make an advising appointment, please click the button below to visit the SSE Advising Center Website.
Juniors and Seniors
Juniors and Seniors: There will now be three routes you may seek for advising: (1) a newly developed Psychology Advising Canvas Page, (2) email or (3) walk-in faculty advising. See below for details.
1 - Canvas Psychology Advising Page
This newly developed Canvas page contains all of the information/resources/forms you may need as a Psychology Major at CSUB. Your Psychology Advisors have created videos that walk you through the courses you need to take to complete the major, as well as other helpful procedures. **If you have an advising hold, you can take the Advising Quiz (after watching the videos). This quiz tests your knowledge on the Psychology Major to ensure you understand what is expected from you (You may retake this quiz as many times as needed to score 100%). After you earn a 100% on the advising quiz, your advising hold will be lifted (There may be a 24 â 48 hour delay in hold removal, so plan accordingly)**.
2 - Email Advising
When emailing, make sure to sign your e-mail with your full name and student ID number. If we need to pull up your advising file, we will need your student ID number in case another student has the same first and last name as you. All advisors have access to this e-mail address and e-mails are answered during advising hours. psycadvising@csub.edu
3 - Walk-in Faculty Advising
As stated above, you no longer have one assigned Psychology Advisor you can approach
for help with advising. Each Advisor has one advising hour each week throughout the
semester (the advising schedule is posted on the Psychology connection, Advising Canvas Page, and in the Psychology Main office, DDH D107). You may visit any advisor that has advising
hours that work with your schedule. In order to be able to visit an advisor, we now require that you print out and complete
an advising form with your updated course history. This form is accessible through the Psychology Advising Canvas page. After attending
a walk-in advising hour, your hold will be lifted.
