CSU Bakersfield is in the process of developing a strategic energy plan, with a goal of increasing use of renewable energy sources, making use of energy efficiency improvements to campus, and implementing advanced energy innovations in future campus construction.

Solar

Solar panels

CSUB flipped the switch on its all-new solar panels in 2011. The $9.5 million project was paid for by SunEdison, part of a public-private partnership with 15 CSU campuses to build solar power projects. The 1-megawatt system provided 12% of CSUB's total energy use in 2020.
