The Message Board

The message board serves as a place to not only view homework for the upcoming class period, but you’ll also find important information here (i.e., journals, notification of a cancelled class, different reading, etc.).  The message board also is a place for you to discuss films, assignments, and readings. The password for the message board is the same as for turnitin.com (see your syllabus for more information).

NOTE: Your log-in name needs to either be your first name, last initial OR your first initial, last name. For example, if your name was Jane Smith, the only choices you have for a log-in name are JSmith or JaneS.

Turnitin.com

Turnitin.com is a tool to help you avoid plagiarism. Approximately two hours after you submit your paper (approximately two hours), you can access a color-coded report with details about your use of sources in your paper. Because this site does not detect problems with paraphrasing that is not cited properly, you should use this site only as a guide. To use turnitin.com, you will need to create a “user profile” with the information found in your syllabus.

After your profile is created, you can log onto and use the site. Note:  Submitting a paper to turnitin.com does not mean you have submitted your paper to your instructor; you must also hand in a copy of your paper to your instructor.

MyGradeBook

On the first day of class, I will ask you for a password. This will be your information to enter the online gradebook to see your grades whenever you’d like. To see your grades, go to www.mygradebook.com, and log in with your information. All online quizzes for the class will be on this site as well.
