For Research Students
Student Research Scholars (SRS) Program - Applications Typically Due: January
Funded by Cal State Bakersfield Foundation, the SRS Program supports 12 student-faculty teams with a $2,000 award each to conduct and complete a project involving research, scholarship, or creative activity.
TSSR-Application - Applications Typically Due: May 1st, 2024 (Annually)
The purpose of the TSSR program is to provide financial support for CSUB undergraduate and graduate students who are presenting a paper summarizing their own research or scholarship or showing their own creative work(s) at a national/regional professional meeting/conference. Papers or creative works must have been selected through a peer review process.
For Underrepresented Minorities & First-Generation College Students
American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program - Applications Typically Due: March
Renewable scholarships for underrepresented minority students who want to enter fields
in the chemical sciences. Scholars are selected based on academic standing, financial
need, career objective, leadership skills, and involvement in school activities and
community service.
Asian Pacific Community Fund - Verizon Scholarship Awards Program - Applications Typically Due: October
The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students
in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising
costs of obtaining a college degree. These awards will support those who excel academically,
are leaders amongst their peers and are making a positive impact in their communities.
Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program - Applications Typically Due: rolling
The goal of the LSAMP Program is to broaden participation in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines and increase the number of underrepresented
minorities receiving baccalaureate degrees in STEM disciplines. Students in the LSAMP
program receive a stipend for participating in research as well as tutoring and other
support.
McNair Scholars Program - Applications Typically Due: April
The McNair Scholars Program serves those who have both the desire and the potential
to earn a doctorate degree (Ph.D.). The participants of the program are either low-income
first-generation college students or are members of a group underrepresented in graduate
education.
UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards - Applications Typically Due: December
UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards are intended to help
African American undergraduate students who are interested in science to further their
science education and potentially pursue science and engineering careers. The UNCF/Merck
awards provide tuition support and opportunities for research experience in a state-of-the-art
research facility. Awards up to $30,000.
For Incoming Students
Hispanic Excellence Scholarship Fund (HESF)
Applications Typically Due: April
The HESF is a CSUB initiative established in 1984 to increase access to a college
education for academically excellent, financially needy students with leadership potential.
This scholarship program is for incoming CSUB freshmen or transfer students. Special
attention is given to students who are first in their family to attend college and
to students with economic need.
For Future Teachers
Robert Noyce Scholarship Program
Applications Typically Due: rolling
The Robert Noyce Scholarship program is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded
program that provides scholarships to students who are committed to teaching science
or mathematics in high need school districts upon the completion of a single subject
credential program. The CSUB Noyce Scholarship Program will offer scholarship support
for up to two academic years.
Math and Science Teacher Initiative (MSTI)
Applications Typically Due: rolling
MSTI is a program designed to double the number of prospective high school and middle
school mathematics and science teachers who graduate from CSUB. Awards of up to $8,000
over two years are based on merit and on intentions of becoming a mathematics or science
high school or middle school teacher in a Kern County school.
