HD-CAFS has CSUB's First OER Degree
The Department of Human Development, and Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies was recognized by the Chancellor's Office for offering the first Open Educational Resources (OER) degree with no textbook costs for students at CSUB. HD-CAFS is an Award-winning department with both the first OER Major (2019), and now the first OER degree pathway (Fall 2023). Cost savings for students has been more than $220,000 dollars contributing to reducing educational costs, reducing equity gaps, and increasing retention to graduation. Jumpstart Children First Federal Grant Award
In our efforts to support our students with Educational Awards, Dr. Correa applied for a Jumpstart Children First Federal Grant Award. CSUB's HD-CAFS Department was the recipient of 4 awards over the following years: Year Award

Up Lift California Grant
Dr. Correa participated as a sub-awardee and lead Principal Investigator for CSUB on an Up Lift California Grant (4.5 million) awarded to California State University Sacramento by the funding agency, Early Educator Investment Collaborative. This grant, entitled "Transforming Early Educator Lead Teacher Preparation Programs Through Multi-Partner Innovation" provided funding to create a multilingual special topics course, and a pathway for the PK-3 credential for prospective educators in Early Childhood Education. Department of Education Grant
Dr. Correa and Dr. Reid were awarded a Department of Education Open Textbook Pilot (OTP) Program Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) #P116t23003, Grant. The title of this project is Pathways of Possibilities for transforming Higher Education Curriculum Alignment Program.Year Award

Integrated Teacher Education Grant
In collaboration with the Special Education Program under the Program Director, Dr. Yeunjoo Lee, with HD-CAFS Chair, Dr. Elaine Correa were awarded an Integrated Teacher Education Grant by the State of Depart. of Education. This grant funding was directed at increasing the number of educators in Special Education with an Early Childhood Education Focus.Year Award
