Campus Hardware Standards
One of the many challenges in information technology in a higher education environment is standardizing, to the highest degree possible, the kinds of hardware and software used on campus. While this policy realizes that some individuals/departments will have needs that are not resolved by the recommended standards, it is important to acknowledge that adhering to standards will ultimately result in better service and faster resolutions for everyone. Computing in a higher education network is complex, hardware and software that work at home may not work right away on campus. Saving a few dollars on a non-standard PC or personal printer may ultimately cost more in staff support and additional resources.
