The Curriculum and Instruction program is intended for educators and those interested in education who are seeking to enhance their skills and understanding of curriculum development, implementation, and assessment.  The coursework is designed to benefit both beginning and experienced teachers.  A minimum of 45 quarter units is required for the degree.  In addition to the core requirements, and the culminating activity, students take electives to add depth and breadth to their program.

Cal State Bakersfield, in conjunction with Maalot Los Angeles and the Zaidner Institute, have partnered to offer this master’s degree program exclusively to Maalot and Zaidner participants.

Culminating Activity (5 units)

     EDCI 691  Master’s Project

In addition to the above requirements, students take 24 elective units.  Students choose from a range of courses that include teaching & learning practices, developing new skills and techniques, and exploring theory and best practices in teaching & learning. Past electives include courses in special education, reading, child development, useful technologies, math and parents, differentiated learning, and more. Participants are challenged and encouraged to use examples from their own practices.

The Master’s program is not a credential program, and no credential is granted to those who complete the MA degree in Curriculum & Instruction.

This Online Master of Arts in Education program is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
