Types of Documentation
- DD-214
The DD Form 214 is a complete and thorough document that verifies a service member's proof of military service. This Certificate of Release or Discharge form is issued through the Department of Defense and is typically issued at the final out processing appointment prior to retirement or separation.
- Military Orders
A military command or order is a binding instruction given by a senior rank to a junior rank in a military context.
- Joint Service Transcript (JST)
The Joint Services Transcript (JST) is a synchronized transcript presenting data for the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard. Each JST is "owned" by the service member's or veteran's specific service, so you will see each service's seal with the American Council on Education (ACE) seal at the top.
- GI Bill Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
Once you apply for your benefits, the VA will send you a certificate of eligibility that spells out exactly what you are eligible to receive. Please refer to va.gov for documentation. This is the document you'll present to the school certifying official when you enroll for certification.
