California State University, Bakersfield, and the Etxepare Basque Institute have partnered to collaboratively support research on and artistic engagement with the Basque diaspora. In this cooperative framework, CSUB and the Etxepare Institute have created the "Frank Bidart Visiting Research or Artistic Fellow". The Bidart Fellow will undertake a residency of one month during the Spring Semester in order to implement a research or artistic project.
The fellowship is named in honor of the poet Frank Bidart, a Bakersfield native who is among the most important American poets of his generation. His book Half-light: Collected Poems 1965-2016 won both the 2018 National Book Award and the 2018 Pulitzer Prize. Bidart is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor Emeritus in the Humanities and Professor of English at Wellesley College.
The call will be published on the websites of the Etxepare Basque Institute, the CSUB Institute for Basque Studies, and the H-Announce platform. Visit the Call for Proposals page for more information.
