CSU Bakersfield offers courses in the language and history of one of the most ancient and unique cultures of Europe: Basque. Under the BASQ program, students can pursue the study of the Basque language (Euskara) and Basque culture from the introductory (BASQ I) to the advanced level (BASQ IV). CSUB's Department of Modern Languages & Literatures is unique within the CSU system in offering courses on the Basque language.
For the Spring 2024 semester, BASQ 1000 will be offered in a hybrid online/in-person format: Tuesdays (online) and Thursdays 4:00-5:15pm in DDH 102E. The accompanying lab, BASQ 1001, will meet on Thursdays from 3:00-3:50 in DDH 102E. The course will be taught by Institute Director Dr. Steven Gamboa.
