ATTENTION: ALI will not be holding Fall 2024 classes. Please reach out to us November 2024 if interested in Spring 2025 classes.

The steps necessary to apply to the ALI differ depending on F-1 visa status. If you have questions about the process or need guidance, please contact us.

Application Process for New F-1 Visa Students

  1. Prepare the following documents:
    • Completed ALI application form
    • Statement of financial support*
    • Copy of your valid passport photo page
    • The English exam result that meets the language proficiency requirement (see Language Students page for more details if you don't have a test result, contact us)
  2. Email scanned copies of above documents to studyabroad@csub.edu.
  3. The SEVIS temporarily accepts the printed acceptance letter and the I-20 that are emailed to the applicants. Upon acceptance, ALI will email the applicants the acceptance letter and the I-20.
  4. Upon receipt of visa documents, make an appointment with the U.S. Embassy in your home country to complete the process.

*Statement of financial support: Applicants of ALI must provide evidence of adequate financial resources for their period of study in the U.S. Financial support documents can be bank statements and/or the scholarship award letter. ALI applicants must provide proof of financial resources of $29,000 or more that are available while they study at ALI. The fees and expenses are estimated based on one academic year (4 terms, 9 months). Please add $7,200 if a spouse accompanies you, and $3,600 for each child that accompanies you. All documents must be in English.

Application Process for NON-F-1 Visa and Transfer Students

  1. Prepare the following documents:
    • Completed ALI application form
    • Copy of the proof of the legal status in the U.S. 
    • Transfer-in eligibility form completed by the student and the current program (F-1 transfer students only)
    • The English exam result that meets the language proficiency requirement (see Language Students page for more details if you don't have a test result, contact us)
  2. Email scanned copies of above documents to studyabroad@csub.edu.
