What is Academic Notice?

Any Undergraduate student whose CSUB or Overall GPA falls below a 2.0 (good standing) will be placed on Academic Notice (formerly known as Academic Probation) and must attend an Academic Notice Workshop to have their hold removed (which prevents registration for the upcoming term). A student will be required to complete a workshop each semester that they are on Academic Notice.

EO 1038 Criteria for Academic Notice & Disqualification

EO 1038 Criteria
Class Level & Units Earned	Good Standing	GPA for Academic Notice	Disqualification - if GPA falls below in the second semester of Academic Notice
Freshman (Fewer than 30 units)	2.00+	1.50-1.99	1.49 or below
Sophomore (30 to 59.99)	2.00+	1.70-1.99	1.69 or below
Junior (60 to 89.99)	2.00+	1.85-1.99	1.84 or below
Senior (90 or more)	2.00+	1.95-1.99	1.94 or below

There are people and processes in place to support you if you have been Academically Disqualified. A student who has been Academically Disqualified will need to petition for Academic Reinstatement or petition for an Appeal of their Academic Disqualification. There are Two Ways to Complete the Academic Notice Workshop

You can complete either option below to have your hold removed. Completion of a workshop is required after each term you are on Academic Notice.

The Academic Notice Workshop via Canvas can be completed at any time.

To register for a workshop, please click on the button below.
Please use your CSUB Email to register for the workshop.
You will receive an email confirmation once you have registered.
To view this workshop, please sign in using your CSUB Net ID and password.
You must be present for the entire workshop to receive credit for attendance (workshops are 30 - 60 minutes long).
Turn in your Academic Notice Agreement form by TBD.

I think I will be disqualified. What do I do?

The Registrar's Office calculates Academic Standing for all students. Once the Academic Standing process has been completed, you will be notified of your Academic Standing via your myCSUB account under Message Center. At that time, you will be provided with additional information. Students may contact the Office of the Registrar for additional information.

I have an academic notice. How do I have it removed?

You must attend an Academic Notice Workshop or complete the online Canvas Workshop to satisfy this requirement. Scroll up for more details.

I have an advising hold. Who do I need to contact?

Contact your major advising center for more information about scheduling an appointment to remove your advising hold. Students can locate their Advising Center information on the homepage of their myCSUB. You may also visit the Undergraduate Advising page here.
