Studying abroad can be the academic experience of a lifetime and an investment in your future. Like any investment, there are costs involved. However, with careful planning, a life-changing experience abroad might be more affordable than you might think.
Financing options vary by program and some programs are eligible for financial aid, program-specific scholarships, and other funding. We strongly encourage you to discuss any study abroad plans with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure you are making the best possible financial decision.
Below, we’ve compiled a variety of study abroad funding resources. If you have questions at any step of the process, we encourage you to contact the Study Abroad office and make an appointment with an advisor.
Funding
Not all the costs of a Study Abroad experience are wrapped into the cost of the program. Additional costs, such as airfare, lodging, food, and more may be required.
Scholarships
General and program-specific scholarship are available in some instances. Additionally, national and international scholarships may be available from a variety of organizations.
Financial Aid
Some study abroad programs are covered by financial aid, others are not. Be sure to know what exactly your financial aid covers before making any decisions.
Budgeting
A good study abroad plan includes a solid budget and a commitment to follow it. We highly recommend consulting with the study abroad office to develop a program-specific budget.
