Housing Stability

California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) offers Emergency Housing Programs through its Center for Accessibility and Essential Needs to support students facing housing instability. Each grant has its own eligibility policy to ensure that resources are distributed appropriately and is targeting students in need. During this period, students receive case management services to assist with securing permanent housing, or explore other community resources. This initiative aims to provide immediate relief and help students transition to stable living situations, ensuring they can continue their education without the added stress of housing insecurity.

Emergency Housing and Financial Resources

On-Campus Emergency Housing

Students experiencing housing crises may qualify for 30 days free of charge at student housing.

Off-Campus Emergency Housing

Short-term support is available for currently displaced students who are not able to move into on-campus housing, i.e. students who have dependents (children).

Assists students who encounter unexpected financial hardships that could impact their academic success.

Rapid Rehousing Support Program (RRHSP)

What is RRHSP?

As a potential candidate for the College-Focused Rapid Rehousing program, you can expect to work closely with a case manager from The Open Door Network who will assist you in identifying and securing long-term, stable housing. Your case manager will develop a personalized service plan with you, help connect you with resources, support your housing search, and provide ongoing case management to support your housing stability. Throughout this process, you will also be meeting regularly with CSUB's Housing Navigator to check-in and ensure that you are receiving adequate housing support and assist in your overall and academic success.

What are the requirements to be considered for RRHSP?

To be considered for the Rapid Rehousing Program at CSUB, students must be currently enrolled at California State University, Bakersfield, and demonstrate proof of stable, long-term income to support sustainable housing. While each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, strong candidates typically show financial readiness and a commitment to their academic goals. This program is open to all students including those with dependents such as children.
