The Helen Louise Hawk Honors Program
This program supports the mission of the university in helping to raise the standards for the entire university and letting the public know that a state university like ours values a high-quality education. It also serves as a powerful recruitment tool for both honors and non-honors students.
The Helen Louise Hawk Honors program represents the broad diversity of Bakersfield and of Kern County and thus demonstrates to the world that California State University, Bakersfield cherishes and honors diversity and seeks to provide all prospective students regardless of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, or disability issues with a high-quality educational experience.
By sponsoring study abroad for Helen Louise Hawk Honors students, the program promotes the university's goal of developing a global citizenship program and establishing a presence on the international scene.
It also assists the university in creating a lively and enriching campus life by encouraging students to become involved in ASI and other forms of student government, as well as campus clubs, intramural sports, and other CSUB activities. It also sponsors cultural, educational, and recreational events for the students.
The Honors Program provides a community experience which encourages collaboration, leadership, and creativity. Such enriching experiences will unite your passion for lifelong learning.Dr. Jackie Kegley, Director of the Honors Program
