Waivers
A portion or all your tuition and other fees may be waived by your participation in a university sanctioned program. Please contact the departments or persons below to inquire about your eligibility.
Students are always responsible for books, Labs, and optional parking fees.
Student Financial Services places waivers on student accounts upon procedural requests from various sources:
Students from universities outside the United States, attending the CSU per an exchange agreement.

Surviving children and/or the spouse of the deceased Public Safety Officers, including Law Enforcement, Firefighters and those Officers performing services under contract for a Public Agency who were California residents and killed in the line of duty.

A student in an Undergraduate Program who is a surviving dependent of a person killed during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks may qualify if the student meets the financial need requirements for the Cal Grant A Program. The surviving dependent or the individual killed in the attacks must have been a California resident on September 11, 2001.

Students enrolled at CSU as a part of an exchange program with another university in California or students attending the CSU on an exchange program from a public university in another state.

California Residents 60 years of age or older taking state supported classes (not through extended education) at the CSU.

Contact the Division of Veterans Services of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for eligibility requirements. Once approved, a veteran’s dependent recipient will receive a waiver authorization letter. The letter needs to be submitted to the campus Veterans Success Center. Students will be responsible for the cost of campus-based fees.

Current or Former Foster Youth as described in the Education Code section 66025.3.

Non-resident active duty servicemembers and veterans under the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bills; meet all requirements under Education Code 68075.7

A student who is not a resident of California is exempt from paying non-resident tuition if the student is a California high school graduate as listed on Education Code 68130.5.

COVID-19 Qualifying Survivors who meets all required conditions as outlined in Education Code 68120.3. Surviving spouse or surviving child of a deceased California resident who was a licensed physician or licensed nurse employed by or under contract with a health facility regulated and licensed by the State Department of Public Health to provide medical services, or a first responder employed to provide emergency services. The deceased person’s principal duties consisted of providing medical services or emergency services during the COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency (started March 4, 2020, until the Governor lifts the state of emergency), and the deceased person died of COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency.

Non-Resident students with T or U visa status and are victims of trafficking, domestic violence, and other serious crimes; meet all requirements under Education Code 68122.
